WebClostridial myositis (blackleg), due to Clostridium chauvoei, is an extremely economically important disease that is most common in beef cattle. It can also occur in dairy cattle, especially those housed in free-stall barns where jostling and muscle bruising are possible. Clostridium chauvoei is a spore-forming, Gram-positive anaerobic bacillus. WebTetanus is caused by the neurotoxin produced by Clostridium tetani , which is found in soil and intestinal tracts and usually introduced into tissues through deep puncture wounds. The toxin causes a generalized muscular spastic paralysis. Clinical signs and history are usually sufficient for diagnosis.
