We showed that migraine with aura was a risk factor for stroke in young women. The association between migraine and stroke has been attributed to the high rates of HL and HT in migraine. WebA meta-analysis of 13 case-control and 8 cohort studies (n = 622,381) [ Spector et al, 2010] looking at the risk of stroke in migraine, found that people with migraine had twice the risk of ischaemic stroke compared to those without (pooled adjusted odds ratio OR 2.30; 95% CI 1.91 to 2.76).
