WebDec 12, 2024 · Doyle Chauncey, the first full-time executive director-treasurer of the Southern Baptist Convention of Virginia (SBCV), died on Tuesday, March 21, 2024, at the age of 81. He was one of the founders of the state convention and served in a number of ministry roles across Virginia. WebWilliam Heth Whitsitt (1841-1911) was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He was ordained a Baptist minister in 1862, and served in the Confederate Army. He was professor of Church history at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., from 1872-1895, and as President from 1895-1899, when he was forced to resign.
